Senator Nelson’s marijuana decriminalization bill has become law. This bill ensures that Individuals possessing small amounts of marijuana, less than 1 oz. in the U.S. Virgin Islands, will no longer result in a criminal record or a jail sentence. Furthermore, Governor Bryan signed into law, The Virgin Islands Medicinal Cannabis Patient Care Act, which allows medicinal use and regulation of cannabis and the regulation of Medicinal Cannabis Provisioning Centers throughout the territory.
